Songwriter Split Sheet — “Midnight Static”

Between Ava Marlowe, Theo Brandt, Lucía Fenn · Effective March 14, 2026

1. Composition and Parties

This Split Sheet memorializes the agreement among the undersigned writers (each a “Writer” and collectively the “Writers”) with respect to the musical composition presently entitled “Midnight Static” (the “Composition”), written in collaboration on or about March 14, 2026. Each Writer represents that their contribution is original and does not infringe the rights of any third party.

2. Ownership Splits

The Writers shall own the copyright in the Composition, including the lyrics and music thereof, in the following undivided percentages: Ava Marlowe forty percent (40%); Theo Brandt thirty-five percent (35%); Lucía Fenn twenty-five percent (25%). Said percentages shall govern the allocation of all writer and publisher income derived from the Composition, including performance, mechanical, and synchronization royalties.

3. Publishing Administration

Marlowe Songs LLC is hereby appointed administrator of the Composition throughout the world and shall be entitled to collect all income on behalf of the Writers. Marlowe Songs LLC shall retain an administration fee of ten percent (10%) of gross receipts prior to distribution, and shall account to each Writer semi-annually within ninety (90) days following June 30 and December 31.

4. Master Recordings

Nothing in this Split Sheet shall be construed to convey any interest in any sound recording embodying the Composition. Ownership of any master recording shall be determined by separate written agreement among the parties to such recording.

5. Approval of Licenses

Any synchronization or derivative-use license of the Composition shall require the written approval of Writers holding, in the aggregate, more than fifty percent (50%) of the ownership interests set forth in Section 2. A Writer who fails to respond within ten (10) business days of a written request shall be deemed to have approved.

6. Credit

Each Writer shall be credited as a writer of the Composition on all releases, metadata, and registrations with performing rights organizations, in a manner customary in the music industry.

7. Governing Law

This Split Sheet shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.

  1. FavorableGeneral

    1. Composition and Parties

The three of you wrote “Midnight Static” together on March 14, 2026. Each of you promises your part is original and not copied.

Standard opening. The originality promise is mutual and typical of split sheets.

  2. FavorableRoyalties & money

    2. Ownership Splits

You share the song’s copyright 40% / 35% / 25%. Every kind of songwriting income — radio and streaming plays, mechanicals, and TV or film placements — is divided in those same shares.

Clear, complete split that adds up to 100% and covers every income stream. This is the most important clause and it is well drafted.

  3. AttentionRoyalties & money

    3. Publishing Administration

Ava’s company collects all the money for the song worldwide and keeps 10% off the top before paying anyone. You get paid twice a year, up to 90 days after each half-year ends.

A 10% admin fee is within market range, but it goes to a co-writer’s own company. Ask for audit rights over Marlowe Songs’ books and a right to switch administrators.

  4. FavorableIntellectual property

    4. Master Recordings

This sheet only covers the song itself, not any particular recording of it. Who owns a recording is decided separately.

Keeps song rights and recording rights separate, which protects writers who did not pay for the session.

  5. AttentionGeneral

    5. Approval of Licenses

Placing the song in a film, ad or remix needs a yes from writers owning more than half of it. If you don’t answer within 10 business days, that counts as a yes.

Ava and Theo together hold 75%, so they can approve uses without you. The 10-day “silence means yes” rule is short; ask for 20 business days or email-only approval.

  6. FavorableGeneral

    6. Credit

Everyone is credited as a songwriter on releases, streaming metadata and PRO registrations.

Standard credit clause. Make sure your PRO and IPI number are attached when the song is registered.

  7. FavorableGeneral

    7. Governing Law

California law applies if there is ever a dispute.

    Neutral choice for California-based writers.
